June 20, 2011 Good but interesting week

Hey Everyone,

This week was pretty good, definitely better than the last couple of weeks.  Elder Allen and I have been trying to find new people pretty much all the time.  We've found quite a few people who said we could come back.  We were able to have some good lessons too, with members at the lessons.  We also had our last Zone Conference with President and Sister Woods.  It was really good and I'm going to miss them.  You can tell that they were sad but also excited to be able to go back home and be with their family.  It's going to be a couple of crazy next months with the new mission president coming in.  Hopefully he's as good as President Woods.  I know that President Wall is called of God though, and that he is here at this time for a reason, just like all us missionaries.

So on Saturday this week we helped Mike move some furniture and we were able to commit him for a new date!  He'll still be going out to Utah to get baptized, but it's still exciting and I'm happy for him.  He still is trying to give up coffee.  It'll be hard but I know with the Lords help that he will be able to overcome it.  So on the way back from Mike's we were riding on the 22 which is the most ridiculous road to ride on you bikes!  Louisiana roads are the worst!  Anyways we ride on a little skinny strip of cement next to the road.  There is also a 6 inch little cement barricade thing so that the cars don't drift off into the ditches.  So we have to ride on this little skinny piece of cement while trying not to clip our pedal on the barrier and then also not to fall in the 10 foot ditch on the other side!  SO we were riding down the 22 and I looked back to see how far back Elder Allen was.  As I looked over my shoulder while riding with just one hand, my pedal clipped the cement barrier and made my handle bars jump out of my hand.  And Down I went.  I really don't know what happened after that.  I guess I hit my knee really hard and then my head and then I rolled out of it and popped up like nothing happened.  This happened right in front of some lady's fruit stand and she started freaking out.  Anyways I turned it into a missionary opportunity and gave her a card and asked if we could come and teach her.  I acted like nothing had just happened because I was pretty embarrassed.  So on the rest of the ride back to the apartment my knee was Killing ME!  It took like 30 minutes to get back home, when it usually only takes about 10 minutes.  One of the other missionaries told me I needed to call sister Woods, even though I didn't want to.  She told me to go get an x-ray of my knee.  So we went to the emergency room and I waited there For 5 HOURS!  It was ridiculous, and they told me that it had just been bruised really bad. I am grateful though that it's only bruised and not broken or anything torn.  So now I'm limping everywhere, and we haven't been able to go out the last couple of days because I can't ride my bike.  Hopefully something good will come out of this like getting back the car. haha.  I'm hoping because it is getting so unbearably hot here!  Anyways  we did have 3 people at church which was really good.  Hopefully we will continue to keep having more successful weeks.  I hope you all have a great week.

Love,
Elder Cooper
