Exciting week, July 18, 2011

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone had a great week.  I got some exciting news this last week.  They changed up transfer calls to being on Saturday instead of on the next Monday.  So this last Friday president Wall called me and asked me to train!  And then on Saturday I found out I'm getting white washed into an area, too!  For those of you that don't know what that means, both missionaries that were in that area are  getting moved out and two new missionaries are put in.  My new area is Algiers, which is part of New Orleans, but it's on the westbank.  I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of freaking out!  It will be tough but I'm really excited to train and to go back to New Orleans.  I'm definitely going to miss Adrian, Sky, and Mike.  Good news too, Mike finally bought his plane ticket to fly out to Utah to get baptized!  I'm really excited for him.  He'll be baptized on Aug. 7th and he's going to stay in Utah for the rest of the next week to spend time with some of his family that he's never met.  I'm excited though for a change.  Algiers is a lot like my first area, so I can't wait!

I'll be going up Tuesday morning to Baton Rouge and spending the night there.  They're doing a new thing where if you train, you're with your companion for at least two transfers.  Also, you have two hours of companion study.  So they want us to be up there the day before transfers and we're going to be in meetings and instructions on how the new program is going to work.  So I won't find out who I'm training until Tuesday.

Not too much happened this week.  It rained every single day this week!  The people here are really grateful because they've been having a drought here so far this summer.  It's weird... it's looked more like Arizona here because everything was dry and not as green as it usually is.  The streets now are flooding in some places because there has been so much water.  Anyways, I've been reading tons of Ensigns this week; we found a lot of them in the closet.  I loved reading all of the conference talks from the last five years.  It just reminds me how important it is that we have a living prophet and twelve apostles, who receive revelation for us in these days.  I know that our Heavenly Father loves each and everyone of us, and that he knows each of us personally.  He loves us so much that he sent his only begotten son to suffer and die for us.  I'm starting the book Jesus the Christ for the third time.  The more I learn about my savior the more my love for him and for others grows.  I love this gospel and I know without a doubt that it is true.  I can't wait for this next week!  I hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Elder Cooper
