Crazy Week Jan 3, 2011

Hey Everyone,

Hope everyone had a great New Years.  I had a pretty good one here in New Roads. This week was crazy though.  On Wednesday, during my lunch break, President Woods called and asked if I could get somewhere where I would be alone in the apartment.  It scared me because I thought maybe he was going to tell me that something bad had happened back home, but he asked me if I had noticed if my companion had been doing anything wrong or not following the rules.  I said no because he had been good and obedient since I had been there.  Then he asked if he could talk to my companion and I gave him the phone.  I guess he did something he wasn't supposed to the transfer before.  So they transferred him to New Orleans and brought back Elder Waters to be my companion, which he had gone down to New Orleans to take my place during transfers.  Confusing right, but yeah so this week has been crazy.  Elder Waters is really cool and we get along great.  We found a lot of potential investigators this last week and hopefully will be able to turn them into investigators this week.  New Roads is great and there are a lot of good people here.  Hopefully we'll be able to start the group in a couple of weeks and get that started.  There are a lot of people that said they would come to church if it was closer because it's a 45 minute drive to Baton Rouge to go to church right now.  Anyways, for New Year's Eve we had to be in at 6 and we did our weekly planning that night.  So we stayed busy.  That night at 12 there were the loudest fireworks going off. It was coming from across False Lake. The town over there is called the Island and it really isn't a town they pretty much do what they want over there and don't really have that many laws.  So it sounded like they were lighting off cannons and it was hard to go back to sleep after that.  So it was a pretty crazy night.  New Years Day though was good.  They have a tradition here in the south that on every New Year's Day you have a meal of black eyed peas and cabbage.  It's supposed to give bring you good health and wealth.  I had never heard of it and everyone thought we were crazy that we hadn't had black eyed peas before on New Year's day.  It was pretty good though.  Well I don't have too much time today because the library was closed today so I'm e-mailing from a investigator's house.  So I hope you all have a great week and a good start to a new year.

Love,
Elder Cooper
