Hi Everyone,
This last week was awesome! On Tuesday we had new missionary training up at the stake center in Baton Rouge. It was for all of the new missionaries and their companions, so I got to see the Elders and sister that were in my district at the MTC. It was cool to see them and hear about their experiences after the first month of the mission. It was a really good meeting too. I learned alot on how I can improve on being a missionary.
One thing that was a little dissapointing this week, was Raymond wasn't baptized on the 30th because he didn't feel ready yet because he's having a problem with Joseph Smith seeing God face to face. He's having a hard time because in the bible in a couple of places it says that no man hath seen God. So we're working with him on that, but we recommitted him for the 13 of November and we committed his wife Tracy for that date too. They've been to church 4 weeks in a row, and this last Sunday they brought their son Jalen with them. So we're pretty excited about them and feel that they will be ready for the 13th.
This last Saturday my companion and I were able to go to one of our investigator's high school football games. We were pretty stoked and our mission president was cool enough to let us do that. When we asked him he said " Yeah, that sounds great, let me know how it goes." The investigator's name is David and we've been teaching him and his mom Dian. It was great to watch a football game and I know that it meant a lot to Dian that we would come out and watch David play. Especially since we were on bikes this week because we ran out of miles for our car, so it was about a 20 mile ride out to where his game was at. It was totally worth it, though.
Later that night the ward we're in had a chili cook off and trunk or treat. The Chili was really good and it was good because there were a few investigators that came too. On Sunday, Raymond and Tracy came to church again and they brought their son Jalen with them. It was really good because Jalen seemed to fit in pretty good with the young men in our ward. SO we were excited about that and hope that Jalen will want to start sitting in on the lessons and be baptized with his parents. Sunday night for Halloween we thought that we were going to have to go in early but they told us there was no lockdown. It was pretty surprising because Halloween is crazy down here. It's one of the biggest holidays down here and there were lot's of huge parties going on. My companion and I decided to hand out candy taped to pass along cards. It worked really well, and we handed out about 80 pass along cards which is what we would usually hand out in about 3 weeks.
The Lord is definintely blessing me and helping us find those people he has prepared. Hopefully we can get some of the people he's prepared to the waters of baptism. I know that with the Lord anything is possible as long as we keep our faith in him. I love it here, I love the Gospel, and I love you all. I hope you all have a good week.
Love,
Elder Cooper
