Staying in New Roads Feb. 1, 2011

Hey Everyone,

Hope you all had a great week and a good month of January.  I can't believe it's already February, time is going by way too fast.  Today it has been storming really crazy, and later in the week it's supposed to get down to 43 as the high.  The weather here is crazy, yesterday it got up to 78!, you never know what tomorrow is going to be like.  I do like the rain though, even though it is not as much fun tracting in the rain.  Well this last week was really good.  Randy and Bridgette Oubre came to church on Sunday!  It has been quite a while since I've had an investigator at church.  It makes church so much better when you have investigators there so my companion and I were pretty excited.  We also committed John and Kate Gebhart for baptism on March 26th.  They have been progressing but they are pretty stubborn too.  Hopefully we can get them to church this next Sunday.  It will be really good for them since it will be fast Sunday.  Fast Sunday is always the best meeting for the investigators because they get to hear all the members bear their testimony of how they know the church is true.  It really helps the investigators feel the spirit and see that there are normal people just like them who know what we are teaching them is true.
Transfer calls were last night but my companion and I have known that we were both staying in New Roads for a while now.  Our zone got split though, so now we have new zone leaders.  Other then that it was a pretty boring transfer call.  I'm pretty excited to stay in New Roads.  There are a lot of good things happening here and a lot of potential.  I can't wait for Randy and Bridgette's baptism and to start a church here in New Roads.  I'll probably be here for the next transfer too because this is Elder Waters 4th transfer in New Roads and they usually don't keep missionaries more then six months in an area.  I do love New Roads, but there are a few things that I don't like about it.  Since it's a small town everyone knows each other and there is a lot of gossiping and drama that goes on. At night time if we have appointments fall through there isn't too much to do.  Everyone here goes to bed when the sun goes down.  It's ridiculous how early everyone here goes to sleep.  Anyways, so we end up going store contacting a lot of the nights at either Walmart or Winn Dixie.  Other than that New Roads is great!
Well I hope you all have a great week.

Love,
Elder Cooper
